Call 844-312-BOAT To Speak With Cap'n Morgan
Hello, this is Cap'n Morgan.
Let me ask you this…
As a boat owner, charterer, pilot, captain, operator…, whatever you call yourself as the person in charge of the boat…did you know…
YOU are responsible for the safety and well being of EVERYONE onboard?
And to be honest, you're even, to some degree, responsible for the safety and well being of those in the water and on other boats near you.
So the question is…
Are you ready for this serious responsibility?
Can we be frank here?
Everything is fun and games until the shit hits the fan.
Boating is a great fun pastime for you, and your friends and family.
It’s rich with history and continues to evolve. But…
Unfortunately not enough folks take the responsibility and safety for themselves and passengers into consideration.
At least at an appropriate level and with the proper training.
To be honest, most folks don’t think much about safety, rescue, etc until it’s an emergency. And then it’s too late.
You’re quite different.
That’s why you’re here today. And you’re not alone.
BoatSafely-Chicago will help you.
At BoatSafely-Chicago we have a great time, on the water and off.
But…
Safety and security, proper preparations, adequate training are first and foremost for us.
And here’s the dirty little secret….
Boating is WAY more fun when you’re trained, competent, and prepared.
Imagine… you’re motoring towards the playpen and a guest falls overboard during a busy choppy Saturday summer day…
Would you know EXACTLY what to do, how to do it, and in what order to best ensure your guests safety and rapid recovery…, even if they're not a swimmer and there are dozens of other boats and wave-runners all around you?
Most folks cannot honestly say they would know exactly how to rescue that MOB (man overboard). But…
Just for a moment…
Imagine the feeling of confidence and comfort knowing YOU are in complete command of your vessel at all times.
Leaving the marina, taking on fuel, anchoring, docking, rescuing persons injured and in the water.
Having the ability to be a life saver and a hero when bad things happen on the water, rather than a victim or an onlooker when people desperately need help.
That’s where BoatSafely-Chicago can help you.
Your instructors have years of boating experience and ALL have minimum 100-ton USCG MMC (Mariners Credentials).
We're Captains, real captains, not just 6 pack or phony captains.
Not only that but your instructor team has expertise in lifesaving, open water, rough water, diving, boat handling, reading weather, CRM, and so much more!
In our daily lives we routinely practice MOB, firefighting, open water/rough water rescue, and more. As I write this I am in San Diego for my annual lifeguard training as an official observer for the Catalina Channel Swimming Federation.
So if you’re serious about being a skilled responsible captain, mate, or even a valuable passenger you’ve come to the right place.
Many of our students don't own boats of their own.
But, they get invited along every weekend by friends, family, and even other boat owners BECAUSE they are viewed as a valuable asset to safe and fun boating because of their knowledge and training.
So whether you're a seasoned boat owner, new boat owner, a frequent guest, or even looking to get hired on local yachts as a mate, deck hand, or stew (for hire; yes, you get paid), you can immediately increase your skills and value to others by taking some training from BoatSafely-Chicago today.

The National Safe Boating Council recommends all boaters participate in instruction and education prior to launching. Not only can you play a critical role in preventing a boating accident, your time on the water will be more enjoyable.
We believe that a safe day on the water is a perfect day on the water. Whether you are a novice boater or a trainer, a paddler or powerboater, we have the educational options you need to increase your skills and knowledge.
Our instructors have undergone rigorous training to teach recreational boaters in accordance with the American National Standard for on-water skills. NSBC Instructors help cultivate a safer recreational boating experience by training responsible boaters.
It is likely that your state requires you to complete a boating safety course and obtain your boater education card (sometimes called “boat license”). The NSBC recommends NASBLA-approved courses.

I am often asked, "How Do I Become A Licensed Captain?"
I've partnered with Mariners Learning System to help you do just that!
But first... let's squash a myth!
The US Coast Guard does NOT issue captains licenses.
Rather, they issue what's called a Merchant Mariners Credential or MMC.
The different licenses are way too complicated to cover here, but just know there are MAJOR differences in licenses.
And that's why I tell people beware of the so-called "captains" that offer services like charter, delivery, training, etc. If they even have an MMC at all it's likely a 6-pack or 25, 50 ton license. Which frankly is like having a learners permit.
Captain is a rank in the military, or, at the least, a title reserved for operators of large vessels of significant tonnage and/or carrying large passenger counts or payloads.
EVERYONE else is a skipper.
